Time to Lime?

Fall is a great time to apply Lime to your lawn. Lime will increase the PH of your soil. A 6.5 PH will get you the best looking lawn. Most lawns in Connecticut have acid soils and need lime every year. How much to lime? It’s best to have your soil tested by UCONN soil lab. UCONN will tell you how much and what type of lime you will need to apply. Lawn Science has UCONN test the soil for all the lawns we treat. This insures that the correct type and amounts of lime are applied for the very best results. There are two types of lime you may need, the first is High calcium lime this lime is 35% calcium and has not magnesium. Dolomite lime is the other type of lime and Dolomite has 21% calcium and 10% magnesium. Lawn Science recommends using the pelletized version of either lime products. Liming is the single most important application for your lawn and soil. Lawns that have the correct PH thrive. Bluegrass and Rye grass will not live in soils with a PH of 5.5 or lower.
