Who We Are
Forty Years of Growing More Than Just Lawns
Where It All Started
American Landscape was founded in Norwich, CT in 1984, out of Steve Bousquet's love for lawns and the joy lawns bring to people of all ages. From T-ball fields and high school soccer fields to your home lawn, people count on and depend on a certain level of quality. Growing a beautiful, healthy lawn is not always easy and takes a balance of timing, knowledge, and some cooperation with Mother Nature. For over forty years, Steve has worked to create a lawn care program that protects and enhances the ecology and environment, while growing lawns that provide beauty and joy to thousands of people.
In 1991, our Lawn Science division was born and the company name changed to American Landscape and Lawn Science, LLC. Lawn Science provides an organic approach to a great-looking lawn. The two key components to Lawn Science lawn programs are organic-based fertilizers and the UConn soil testing laboratory. Working with your UConn soil test results, Lawn Science offers the necessary lime applications, containing the correct amounts of calcium and magnesium to improve your lawn's soil for maximum reward.

The People Behind the Process
Steve Bousquet
Owner and General Manager
Steve founded American Landscape and Lawn Science more than forty years ago with little more than his father's backyard garage and a big vision. Through steady growth, hands-on leadership, and an unwavering respect for people and process, Steve has built the business into a thriving enterprise with two locations and a dedicated team of thirty employees.
Beyond his own company, Steve's impact extends well beyond the workplace. He has held numerous board positions, including serving as a trustee for the Norwich Greater Chamber of Commerce, a board member of the Connecticut Landscape and Nursery Association, and, for the past ten years, President of the Finnish American Heritage Society. He is a committed local supporter and the Vice President at the Eastern CT Symphony Orchestra.
A graduate of St. Bernard High School and Eastern Connecticut State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, Steve holds numerous professional certifications. At the heart of everything he does is a simple mission: to help build a vibrant, healthy community that values hard work, creativity, and the arts, and creates space for people and businesses to grow.

Sage Chesmer
American Landscape Sales
Sage joined American Landscape and Lawn Science in 2017 as our shop gardener and quickly grew into much more. By 2019, her curiosity and creativity pulled her into sales calls and design work, and in 2020 she officially stepped into the role of Landscape Sales.
Raised on a dairy farm in Lebanon, CT, Sage attended Lyman Memorial High School for animal science and was an active member of the FFA. She later earned a degree in Agricultural Business from SUNY Cobleskill in New York.
